when fashion does good..

You will all surely heard of the Great East Japan Earthquake (2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami) …
It happened at about quarter to three on the 11th of march 2011 and lasted about 6minutes. 6 minutes may not sound like that long, but for the people involved it would have felt like a lifetime. & it was long enough to do this much damage…

When I had a quick look on wikipedia, the small total damage section informs us that there  was flooding, a tsunami wave, landslides, fires, building and infrastructure damage, nuclear incidents including radiation releases. Reading that horrifies me, and I would be shocked if it didn’t do it to you too. But if it didn’t, what about the fact that there were 15, 538 deaths, 5,685 injured, and 7,060 people missing.
Of course, it is not realistic that we can all hop on a plane to help, but you can still help… simply by purchasing yourself a new item of clothing J! This makes me ridiculously happy – my favourite time is when fashion does good. Now, although I’m supposed to be saving my money for a trip to London with my friends in October (EEP! :D) it would be selfish of me to use that as a reason not to buy one of these t-shirts from Uniqlo.
As the article in Glamour magazine says:
“DO your bit for Japan… Everyone from Gaga to Gwyneth has created a charity tee for Uniqlo, featuring messages of support after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March.  Uniqlo will donate 100million yen (£750,000) from the proceeds to the Japanese Red Cross Society.”
Victoria Beckham’s design is simple and stylish, while Blake Lively’s has a large butterfly motif and a quote saying: “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly”. I love that quote – its so inspirational. Just shows that in the shittest of situations, there is hope. As long as we all pull together and help.
They cost only £12.99, so log on to Uniqlo.co.uk and get yours now.

Do your bit for Japan.
Lots of love…
