when fashion does good..

You will all surely heard of the Great East Japan Earthquake (2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami) …
It happened at about quarter to three on the 11th of march 2011 and lasted about 6minutes. 6 minutes may not sound like that long, but for the people involved it would have felt like a lifetime. & it was long enough to do this much damage…

When I had a quick look on wikipedia, the small total damage section informs us that there  was flooding, a tsunami wave, landslides, fires, building and infrastructure damage, nuclear incidents including radiation releases. Reading that horrifies me, and I would be shocked if it didn’t do it to you too. But if it didn’t, what about the fact that there were 15, 538 deaths, 5,685 injured, and 7,060 people missing.
Of course, it is not realistic that we can all hop on a plane to help, but you can still help… simply by purchasing yourself a new item of clothing J! This makes me ridiculously happy – my favourite time is when fashion does good. Now, although I’m supposed to be saving my money for a trip to London with my friends in October (EEP! :D) it would be selfish of me to use that as a reason not to buy one of these t-shirts from Uniqlo.
As the article in Glamour magazine says:
“DO your bit for Japan… Everyone from Gaga to Gwyneth has created a charity tee for Uniqlo, featuring messages of support after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March.  Uniqlo will donate 100million yen (£750,000) from the proceeds to the Japanese Red Cross Society.”
Victoria Beckham’s design is simple and stylish, while Blake Lively’s has a large butterfly motif and a quote saying: “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly”. I love that quote – its so inspirational. Just shows that in the shittest of situations, there is hope. As long as we all pull together and help.
They cost only £12.99, so log on to Uniqlo.co.uk and get yours now.

Do your bit for Japan.
Lots of love…

FOTD..

quick post today..
i love this look so thought i'd share it with you :)
I used Maybelline Dream Liquid foundation for my base, with some pretty heavy contouring that you can’t see on this stupid over exposed picture. I filled my brows in and primed my lids with the GOSH Velvet Touch Eye Primer, then I used a pale creamy colour all over my lid and brow bone, and a fairly dark rose-gold shadow for a heavy crease. Sweep a bronze shadow on the lower lash line, and line the top with a black liquid liner. I used an Avon kind of electric blue/navy liner on the water line, and lashings of Rimmel Lash Accelerator mascara to finish the look J Then on the lips I used Barbara Daly for Tesco Lipstick in innocent, and Natural Collections lipgloss in Rasberry Ripple.
Love you millions!

leather and lace..

My very brief first post is basically just to explain the blog J
Ok so first of all, we’ll jump in with the name. Leather and Lace… it’d be easy to take it the wrong way when you first seen this address.. but no it is not related in the slightest to anything pornographic LOL. I’m a huge fashion/beauty junkie and I’ve always loved the idea of leather and lace in the same outfit. & originally this blog was just going to be another shallow fashion/beauty blog… But I’m also some who is extremely taken in by all things charitable somehow, certain things touch me more than others of course but generally I’m a supporter of all charities/charitable efforts. & I think there should be more places in the internet for girls to both indulge in fashion and beauty, and be able to become more aware of the not so pretty things that go on in the world. The two things are so different and could yet work so well with each other… that is the main reason for the name of this blog.
So, to some it up, you’re never really going to know what to expect from it.. you could log one week to see me discussing which is my favourite Rimmel London lipstick, and the next to see me delving into the subject of starvation in a third world country.
In short – expect the unexpected from me and you wont be surprised.
Lots of Love
